Division of Continuing and Extended Education
Workforce Development Scholarship Funds

The Division of Continuing and Extended Education offers a wide array of lifelong learning, workforce development, industry certifications and other programs for the Cleveland community and beyond. The Office of Workforce Development within the Division is dedicated to helping unemployed, under-employed, and career transitioning workers get the training they need for the job they want. We offer free adult learning success coaching, and we specialize in meeting the re-training and re-employment needs of unemployed workers over fifty.

Our Mission: The Division of Continuing and Extended Education at Cleveland State University will play a role in helping transform our regional economy by providing communities access to high-quality information and education resources designed to create a more knowledgeable and skilled workforce. Toward this effort, we commit to student success and community enrichment by providing accessible, equitable, and innovative quality education and support services to diverse learners in pursuit of lifelong learning, workforce training, career advancement and pathways to college.

There are over 12.6 million Americans currently out of work with more than a fifth of Ohio's working people losing their jobs during the coronavirus shutdown

Our goal is to help as many out-of-work Clevelanders reskill or upskill through online, non-credit, short-term micro-credentials to help them get back to work. We are committed to raising scholarship funds to cover the cost of tuition and wrap-around-services fully or partially for as many people as possible.

Our 2021 goal is to raise $10,000 in workforce development scholarship funds to cover the cost of skill assessment, one-to-one career coaching, and to cover the costs of course tuition.

With your donations, we further our goal of helping unemployed Ohioans get training and support they need to get back to work.

  • $50 purchases a skill assessment and analysis for two people
  • $100 helps cover the cost of one-to-one career coaching
  • $500 helps cover the cost of an industry certification exam fee
  • $1,000 covers half the cost of a short-term micro-credential, leading to industry certification
  • $2,000 covers the full cost of a short-term, micro-credential, leading to industry certification

Donations on Giving Day go directly to the Workforce Development Scholarship Fund to help unemployed Clevelanders.
