Health Education and Physical Education

The Department of Health and Human Performance offers a major in Physical Education and Sport.  The newly redesigned health and phys ed program provides a double-licensure to teach both physical education and health education.  According to Partnership for a Healthier America, 17 percent of the nation's children are overweight and a growing number are developing diabetes and high blood pressure. Health and phys ed teachers can play an important role in improving the health of our nation's children by giving them the skills and knowledge necessary to a lead a healthy lifestyle.

Given current American health trends, a physical education and health degree provides graduates with the opportunity to help a sedentary generation plagued with increasing obesity. Statistics are inciting parents and teachers of the current generation of children and adolescents to encourage a more active, healthy lifestyle.

We are also seeking funding for the newly proposed online coaching endorsement certificate program.
