Operation STEM (OpSTEM) is a program that offers interactive and engaging experiences for incoming first-year students (OpSTEM Scholars) pursuing STEM degrees. OpSTEM's primary mission is to provide students with the resources needed to excel in their precalculus-calculus courses, develop successful academic practices, and collaborate with their peers pursuing STEM degrees.
THE PROGRAM IS OFFERED AT NO COST TO THE STUDENT
Operation STEM annually serves approximately 100* freshman OpSTEM Scholars who will engage in:
- 2-week Summer Bridge Experience and Onboarding to CSU
- AKA "OpSTEM Summer Institute"
- Supplemental Instruction led by STEM Peer Teachers (150 minutes per week) *
- Academic Course Guidance
- Scholarships for OpSTEM Scholars
- STEM Professional Speaker Series
- College Success & Professional Development Workshops
- Free Summer Calculus Course for eligible Scholars
*In addition to the 100 OpSTEM Scholars, we provide academic support to an additional 500+ students in a variety of math courses each semester.
ANY GIFT YOU’RE ABLE TO GIVE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
The following amounts can alleviate budget restraints. Each represents amount per student:
- $25 Materials for academic year
- $50 Meals for academic year
- $200 Half Summer Institute Student Stipend
- $300 Fall or Spring Student Stipend
- $400 Full Summer Institute Student Stipend
- $500 Half cost for student participation in OpSTEM
- $1,000 Full cost for student participation in OpSTEM
